Hali Schultheiss, Mindset class of Fall 2021, Now DBA Brio Med Spa and Wellness April 3, 2023 3 years ago, I was at my rock bottom, no doubt about it. I was desperately searching for something, anything to help pull myself out of the rut I was in. I knew something had to change. I hated me. I was hitting dead end after dead end in life and felt that I was attracting bad energy all around me. I knew what I was doing wasn’t working and decided I needed to find something to help me grow. I told myself that I needed to surround myself with who I wanted to become - so I started searching for opportunities to do just that. |

I saw an Entrepreneurial Mindset class offered at Fab Lab ICC by Jim Correll and Brittney Holum. Not knowing what to expect, but knowing I had a dream lying dormant in the back of my head I made the leap and took evening classes for 8 weeks. The class is based on the principles of “Who Owns the Ice House?,” written by Clifton Taulbert and his experience as an entrepreneur alongside co-author Gary Schoeniger.
Part of the class included preparing an opportunity canvas which is putting on paper a business idea, and the thought process that ensues to make it happen.
Cleaning out my office a couple of weeks ago, I found mine. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t tear up. At that time, it was just an idea, not something I was actively pursuing. It wasn’t until my professional life became a Sunday night dread more than anything, that I decided I had to take that dormant dream, that opportunity from the opportunity canvas and run with it.
I owe massive thanks to Jim who has shared his endless knowledge and advice as he has held my hand throughout the entire journey! I’ve gotten to work alongside Brittney with Arrow Advisors, and tonight she brought things full circle by asking me to speak to the current Entrepreneurial Mindset class.
Tonight, I was the final speaker for the very class that sparked something within me. I had gone full circle. When I designed the Brio Med Spa & Wellness logo, I was very intentional. The incomplete circle is my life. It begins small and simple, but as it goes counterclockwise it gets into the thick of it, harder, more complicated, until eventually it starts to thin and even out again, ending in a beautifully bloomed lotus flower. The lotus flower blooms only out of mud or the murkiest of waters. It is rooted in mud but grows to the top and blooms one blossom at a time. Brio is my lotus, the missing piece, everything I needed to find and love the best me.
3 years ago, I hated me. Today I am the best version of myself and find new ways, every day to try to be and do better. Rock bottom was the catalyst. Time freedom, my children, inner peace, and a genuine love for people is the motivation. Brio is my lotus. My lotus is blooming!
